Speaking at the event, Emeka Emuwa, Chief Executive Officer, Union Bank, reaffirmed the important role and impact of women in the work place and the community.

He said, “As we celebrate Union Bank’s 100th anniversary this year, the International Women’s Day provides an opportunity for us to celebrate all the women who have contributed to Union Bank’s rich heritage and to inspire all the women building the Union Bank legacy for the next 100 years.”

“We could not have gotten this far without our strong women and at Union Bank, and we are committed to supporting them and helping them succeed all the way in their careers.” he concluded.

During her keynote speech, Ifeoma Fafunwa emphasized the need for sincerity and strong commitment to bring about change for women across the nation.

“Nigeria has over 80 million women, and this is the time to focus on the impact of women in nation building. This work starts from the family, and I believe that women need to be more engaged to make greater impact. For the country to progress, we need to recognize the different levels that need improvement and the role of women in leading that change,” Fafunwa stated.

As part of Union Bank’s centenary theme to celebrate, impact, and lead, the bank is committed to celebrating its stakeholders, including the women in its workforce. Union Bank also intends to lead the discussion on how institutions can positively impact their community in areas such as women empowerment among others.
