Madueke became the OPEC President by election, not by appointment. Before her current elected position, she also holds the record as the female alternate president of the OPEC till date. I’m sure she had opponents who ran for the same seat, yet she won. It is her pedigree that led her to the position in the first place. This position has given Nigeria something to be proud of. She worked for it. Diezani is the world president because oil controls the world. She has paid her dues to become the world president. This is not her first record. In 2008, she was appointed the first female Minister of Petroleum Resources by President Jonathan and she is the longest minister in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. Alison-Madueke was appointed the Minister of Transportation in 2007 by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
She is born to break records. She acquired most of her expertise in the oil and gas industry by being on the job. Madueke was a staff of the Anglo-Dutch oil company, the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), where she rose to become the first Nigerian female executive director.
